Cookie Table
With this piece, we cut the end of the log prior to milling into a “cookie”. It’s a wonderful way to get the whole life history of the tree in a much smaller package. One can also see the devastating effects of Dutch Elm Disease. As this was from the base of the tree, there were many stress fractures that occurred due to the end of the log drying faster than the middle portions. These cracks were sealed with a subtle copper and earthy blue epoxy. The larger cracks were secured with black walnut bowties from the same wood as used in the legs. Pay attention to the seamless lines of the single piece legs as they flow through and around the table top. Attention to detail is quite evident with this piece. This is a great center piece coffee table or end table.
