Elliptical Elm
WOW! What a find! This American elm tree was found in New Hartford CT. It was HUGE measuring nearly 63″ across at the base. This “cookie” was cut just few inches off the ground. It’s amazing that there is absolutely no rot in the center of this tree. It was taken down by the town as it endangered houses and power lines. American elms have been decimated by the Dutch elm beetle which carries with it the Dutch elm fungus. Finding a fully mature elm tree unscathed by this fungus is a rarity. We did our best to preserve and use as much of the tree as possible. This table contrasts the interlocking grain with white epoxy and white legs. This is truly an outstanding piece!
