Our vision is to be distinguished by architects, interior designers and home owners as a creator of awe-inspiring functional art, which enhances a multitude of architectural styles. It is our mission is to passionately create unique, innovative, and visually stunning pieces of functional art by implementing advanced technology and LEAN management systems.
Meet Tom Rutledge
I spent the first 15 years of my career as a Mechanical Engineer focusing on Aircraft design and manufacturing. Throughout that time, I spent my evenings woodworking as a release from the “boxed in” design approach associated with aerospace. As the years went on my love for woodworking grew and so did my appetite for larger and more bold projects. Being an Engineer at heart, I constructed several tools such as a kiln and saw mill out behind my shop. Once I had the ability to harvest trees, my artistic horizons grew exponentially. I love combining nature’s elements into art pieces, such as worm holes, beetle stains, and of course the natural live edge of the tree. I also enjoy bringing more contemporary materials such as glass, metal, and epoxy into my designs.
Throughout this transformation from an aerospace designer to a furniture designer, I was supported by my wonderful wife, Molly and my three children, Kathryn, Dylan, and Macy. Without their support I would never have been able to get this company up and running.
Unlimited Capapbilites
TR Custom Woodcrafts is a full-service manufacturing facility. We harvest many of our own trees, then mill and kiln dry the lumber. We have the ability to do custom one-offs or a series of pieces for commercial use. We are always open to a challenge and look forward to being the solution for your design needs.
